-- though both families are from New York and have a strong presence in the business and politics, we can all agree Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are two completely different people. They have different views, different supporters and they want to create different future for America. With all the buzz going around from this year’s presidential election most people are forgetting that Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump did, in fact, used to be friends and so did their families.

This certainly is a rocky friendship, but it has definitely seen better days in the past. Don’t believe us? Join us as we explore some highlights of the colorful and eventful friendship between the Trumps and Clintons.

Proof number 1: “You know, Donald Trump has been uncommonly nice to Hillary and me. We’re all New Yorkers. And I like him. And I love playing golf with him.”

It’s a statement Bill Clinton made to the CNN in 2012, and earlier that year, Trump stated that Clinton is actually really good guy. These friendship feels seemed to be mutual - at least at some point in their lives.

Proof number 2: Trump defended Clinton’s Monica Lewinsky scandal

In an interview with CNBC in 1998, Trump claimed that Clinton should absolutely refuse to answer any questions about his sex life. “It’s a terrible thing for a president to take the Fifth Amendment, but he probably should’ve done it.” \

With no surprise there, he seemed to have gone back on his words since then. During this year’s election, Trump called the Monica Lewinsky scandal a “fair game” politics.

In December 2015 he also tweeted “If Hillary thinks she can unleash her husband, with his terrible record of women abuse, while playing the women's card on me, she's wrong!”

We can safely claim this alone was probably the end of Trump and Clinton’s friendship.

Proof number 3: “The First Lady is a wonderful woman who has handled pressure incredibly well.”

Donald Trump’s ex wife, Marla Maples urged her friends to support Clintons in a 2007 email where she also stated “I really have enjoyed the time I have spent with Hillary. She is very clear, very focused, and I feel we will at last have a voice and be received with a welcoming and open ear.”

And here’s a 2012 tweet by Donald Trump himself: Bill Clinton did a great job last night--the Democrats are lucky to have him. Do you really believe he likes @BarackObama?”

Proof number 4: Bill and Hillary Clinton attended Donald Trump’s wedding

Now here’s a story we all know, supported by the famous pictures that are circling the internet.

Trump also reportedly tried to invite himself to the 2010 Chelsea Clinton’s wedding without success - but unfortunately he was not on the guest list and gave up on convincing people he was.

Questioned about the event these days the two have very differing opinions on the subject..

Hillary stated thatshe just happened to be in Florida, and thought it was going to be fun to go to the donalds wedding, because it’s always entertaining

While Donald Trump claims that Hillary actually had no choice but to go because he donated to [the Clinton] foundation In 2009. Trump did, in fact, donate $100,000 to The Clinton Foundation. I wonder what kind of political move that was on his on his part?

Proof number 5: The Ivanka Trump and Chelsea Clinton friendship

Introduced by their husbands, the two reportedly clicked immediately. Here’s what Chelsea Clinton had to say about Ivanka in 2015: “She’s always aware of everyone around her and ensuring that everyone is enjoying the moment. There’s nothing skin-deep about Ivanka. And I think that’s a real tribute to her because certainly anyone as gorgeous as she is could have probably gone quite far being skin-deep.”

Rumors are flying around about how the recent election affected their friendship. While there are no clear statements from either Ivanka or Chelsea, we can safely assume the two are not on the same page when it comes to politics.

When Ivanka shared how proud she was of her father, Chelsea Clinton gave out this statement:”And yet clearly Ivanka and I have very different views about who we think should be our president, who we think best represents our country.”

At the end of the day, it seems like they both know that family comes first and they are both proud of their parents’ accomplishments. According to the news, in order to save a few headaches from their parents, Ivanka and Chelsea no longer appear in the public eye.
